COVID-19 UPDATES

March 26, 2020

In light of the shelter in place order from the governor on Monday, it looks as if we will continue to host services online until at least April 12. Please know that we are here for you during this time. If you need prayer or have any practical needs, please contact us here so we know how we can serve you. We have also published a list of resources to help you deepen your faith here. Please know that we are here for you and we love you, New Anthem Family. We have been and will continue to be in prayer for you.

Hello again New Anthem Friends and Family!

Last night, we announced that we would continue to hold services this weekend. You can read our statement regarding that below. This morning, we just got a call from the school administration and they would not like us to meet anymore this weekend. Because of this, OUR SERVICES WILL ONLY BE HELD ONLINE THIS SUNDAY, MARCH 15. As we stated before, we will have more ways and more times to watch, including Facebook and YouTube, at both 9am & 11am on Sunday. Also, we are still taking this week-by-week, so please continue to follow our updates about the following weeks via email, social media, and our website.

We are continuing to pray for you, and we thank you for being patient with us through all of this.

We love you!

Hello New Anthem Family!

We wanted to take some time to respond to the COVID-19 situation that is happening around the world. We have been monitoring it closely and if it seems that we have been slow to respond, that has been intentional, as we have wanted to make sure that our decision is made with all the information, and without fear or emotion, but covered in prayer and wisdom.

First: we want to say that as of today, WE PLAN TO HAVE SERVICES AS USUAL ON SUNDAY, MARCH 15. This decision was not made lightly; theologian A.W. Tozer stated, “A scared world needs a fearless church.” We are commanded in Scripture not to worry; 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

However, we also believe in making wise decisions and respecting those that God has put over us in government, which was very much a part of the consideration that was taken in this decision. As of last night, Governor Whitmer has placed a ban on gatherings over 250. However, a pastor in our network spoke to her today and she informed him that this decision was not intended to restrict worship services and therefore, since our facility restricts our numbers to under 250 per service, our decision to meet does not run in contrast to the wisdom and mandates from our government.

In light of these events, even though we are not canceling, we are dedicated to offering a clean and safe environment to those that choose to attend our services. Here are some steps we are taking to ensure that happens:

  • Our facilities are cleaned regularly and extra attention will be focused on high-touch areas.

  • In addition to hand soap available in the bathrooms, we have a supply of alcohol-based hand sanitizers available for use at both services.

  • The toys in our kids area will be thoroughly wiped down in between services to provide a clean environment for our children.

  • We have strived to be a warm and welcoming church, but in order to prevent the spread of germs, we will be implementing a no-touch policy with our welcome team (they will still be there to wave and say hi at the door!) and we will be suspending our greeting time during services for the time being.

We want you to know that we care about your safety. First and foremost, if you or your family are feeling ill, please stay home to help us prevent the spread of illness in our community. Even if you are feeling well and just feel more comfortable avoiding larger gatherings at this time, we totally respect your decision! If you can’t attend church in person, we encourage you to join our online community when we live stream on Sunday mornings. As in the past, we will be streaming to our Facebook page here. However, we are making some changes to better serve you during this time. Beginning this Sunday, we will be streaming both 9am & 11am services, including both message and worship, and we will also begin streaming to YouTube for easier access. This will also be available directly on our website. The links to our YouTube channel and website are below:

We just want to say that we love you and are praying for you! We also are continuing to closely monitor this situation as things continue changing by the hour and will keep you updated through email, social media, and our website if anything else changes. As of today, we plan to continue to have services as usual indefinitely; however, we are taking this week-by-week and will continue to pray for and seek wisdom.

Our foundation as a “little c church” (New Anthem) and as a part of the “big C church” (globally) is on the Word of God, and so we will close with the words of Jesus: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” - John 14:27

Love,
